Featured Event

July SIM Austin Monthly Meeting - Blockchain & Hurricane Harvey - What do they have in common?

Tuesday, July 9, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Natural disasters like Hurricane Harvey serve as economic, social, political, and environmental disruptors that pose a critical threat to the wellbeing of all citizens. Inadequate planning and coordination and inefficient recovery processes diminish survivors’ quality of life, impair effective management of time-sensitive scenarios, delay clean-up efforts, and make it nearly impossible to invest in future, preventative efforts. Through the development of a blockchain-based citizen assistance application, the goal of the IBM Resiliency and Recovery Support to Texas project was to transform back-end processes and enable community stakeholders to establish a culture of natural disaster preparedness, catalyzing a public shift in focus from reactive, recovery-based initiatives to proactive, resiliency-based initiatives.

Join us as two leading experts, Krystal Webber, Global Design & Strategy Leader, and Christopher Magdelain, Design Lead & Consultant, from IBM Blockchain Services walk us through the scenario and the ongoing solution.

When: Tuesday, July 9, 2019, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.

Where: IBM Client Experience Center, 11501 Burnet Road 78758 (map)
