SIM IT Trends Study

Austin SIM Members - We need your help!

SIM has officially launched the 2019 SIM IT Trends Study.   By completing the questionnaire you help our chapter win its share of cash prizes in the IT Trends Chapter Challenge Contest that our chapter has used for STEM scholarships in past years.

Members should have received an email from Chris Maurer or Leon Kappelman in the past three weeks with a link to participate in the study questionnaire which takes less than 20 minutes to complete.  Everyone that completes the questionnaire will receive a personalized and confidential benchmark report comparing your responses to the aggregates of your fellow SIM members.

Thank you in advance for your support!.

May SIM Austin Monthly Meeting - A Connected World by Dr. Bob Metcalfe

Tuesday, May 14, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Join us for an evening with Dr. Bob Metcalfe as he talks about the connected world we live in.

The most important new fact about the human condition is that we are connected, which is generally a good thing - see Metcalfe's Law (V~N^2).  But the Internet is only 50 years old and already 55% of humans are on it, over 4 billion humans and 8 billion things.  We have not yet figured out how to handle all this connectivity so we have spam, fake news, security hacks, toxic discourse ...  And the next, augmented video mobile gigabit Internet of Things is upon us.

When: Tuesday, May 14, 2019, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.

Where: Microsoft Corporation, 10900 Stonelake Blvd., Austin, TX  78759 (map)
